Fortnight 4: Who Wants The Last Slice?

The Pork Pie Protection Racket had bitten off more than even they could chew. The Skaven Warp Cheese heist was a triumph — the gang made off with crates of the warp-tainted delicacy, and sold it under the table to nefarious nobles and gluttons who liked their dairy with a hint of corruption. For a brief, shining moment, Rollo “Two-Spoons” Tumblefoot sat at the head of the halfling underworld with a satisfied grin and warp cheese dust on his chin.

But power, like cheese, doesn’t age well.

It started with whispers — the Skaven wanted revenge. Then came the disappearances. A bookkeeper found strangled with his own purse strings. A courier found gnawed to the bone. Even the bakery safehouse went up in flame one night. Assassins from below the streets — sleek, masked, and fast — picked off Rollo’s lieutenants one by one. By the time the smoke cleared, the once-proud Pork Pie Protection Racket was reduced to crumbs.

Now, only Rollo, his loyal ogre enforcer Helga Sourdough, and his ever-faithful truffle pig, Duchess, remain. They’ve just fought off a Skaven attack in the gang’s last stronghold — the Old Premium Pork Pie Storehouse, a fortified warehouse on the edge of Sigmarhaven. Inside this still burning building lie the spoils of their short-lived empire: Premium Pork Pie, stacks of smuggled ingredients, and enough culinary contraband to make or break the balance of power in Sigmarhaven’s black market.

But Rollo isn’t the only one with an appetite for it.

The Gastromancers, those cursed chaos-chefs who claim to season fate itself, have manipulated the flow of information, they’ve orchestrated the downfall of the Pork Pie Racket from behind the scenes. Now with the Skaven having done most of the dirty work and the halflings all but broken, the Gastromancers send in their “associates” — mercenaries, cults, and opportunistic warbands promised a share of the spoils. Finish the job and seize the storehouse for their own.

But word spreads fast in the underworld. Not everyone’s stomach turns so easily. Some old allies — rival gangs, smugglers, even debtors — might still owe Rollo favors or respect the old Don enough to lend their blades for one last stand.

As dawn breaks over the rancid skyline, warbands converge on the Old Pie Storehouse. The air smells of smoke, spice, and treachery. Inside, Rollo grips his twin spoons — one silver, one blackened with soot — and mutters:

“If they want what’s ours… they’ll have to fight for it. No one takes the last slice of my pie.”

Overview

4 warbands converge on the Old Pie Storehouse where Rollo is holding out. They all have different objectives, some opposing, some non-conflicting. Scheme, politic and murder your way to domination of the food scene.

Determine objectives

Take 4 playing cards from a pack, 1 of each suit. Place the cards facedown and each player randomly chooses a card, and keeps it within their possession, not revealing it to the other players. See objectives below.

Alternatively, a Gastromancer alligned player may openly claim 'Spades'. Then distribute the remaining 3 suits facedown randomly. The Gastromancer aligned player will have revealed his hand, but has manipulated the other warbands in his favour.

 Suit  Objective 1 Objective 2
♥ Hearts ♥ Rout the warband whose objective it is to assassinate Rollo before he is killed. Extinguish fire or fire prevented
at 4 corners of the storehouse.
♦ Diamonds ♦ Possess 4 crates of Premium Pork Pie. Kill the summoner before ritual of Summoning is cast a 2nd time.
♣ Clubs ♣ 4 corners of the storehouse on fire. Possess 4 crates of Premium Pork Pie.
♠ Spades ♠ Rollo taken OoA by one of your Warband members. Cast the ritual of Summoning twice
inside the Old Storehouse.

Setup

Setup a ruined Old Storehouse (use 4 corners of a ruined building so there is a gap on each side) with sides of 20" in the center of the 4'x4' board. Place Rollo in the center of the board and put Helga and Duchess in base contact with him. Place 6 Premium Pork Pie markers inside the Old Storehouse at least 6" away from eachother and from Rollo and friends. Place 2 Fire markers on diagonal opposite corners.

Roll off to determine setup order. The winning player chooses a corner (A, B, C or D) to setup first and does so. 2nd highests then sets up in an unclaimed corner 2nd, and so on.

Then roll off to determine turn order.

However if the Gastromancer aligned player has openly claimed Spades, they may determine which corners which players start, the setup order, and the turn order. They may decide each, one at a time dependent on how a they feel after a player has setup etc.

The Pork Pie Protection Racket

The 3 members of the Pork Pie Protection Racket count as a 5th warband going after all the player warbands. They march block and count as nearest target for shooting for all warbands.

M WS  BS  Ld  Special Rules, Equipment
Rollo 'Two-Spoons' Tumblefoot, Halfling Mafia Don  4 4 Quickshot, Step Aside, Dodge, Shortbow, Fire Arrows, Lucky Charm, Dagger
Helga Sourdough, Ogre Bodyguard  6 7 Large target, Fear, Strongman, Double handed club, Light Armour
Duchess, the Truffle Pig  7 Hooves (doesnt count as unarmed)

Behaviour

Model Behaviour if unengaged  Behaviour if engaged
Rollo  Will stand still and shoot the nearest warband member that is a legal target in the Old Storehouse Will prioritize model with the most experience

 Helga

Will intercept any charges on Rollo. Otherwise will charge or move towards nearest model engaged with Rollo  Will prioritize models engaged with Rollo in multi combat. Then will prioritize model with the most experience
Duchess  Will intercept any charges on Rollo. Otherwise will charge or move towards nearest model engaged with Rollo.  Will prioritize models engaged with Rollo in multi combat. Then will prioritize model with the most experience

If Rollo is killed, remove Helga and Duchess from the board.

At any point the warband assigned Hearts, may reveal their suit. After which the members of the Pork Pie Protection Racket do not count as an opponent for march blocking or nearest target for shooting. Rollo will also not target the warband members with his shooting.

Summoner

The Summoner is an agent of the Gastromancers that is assigned to the warband that has Spades as their suit for just this scenario. The Summoner is for all purposes exactly the same as the Warlock hired sword, except they have 40 experience for targeting purposes. They do not count towards hired sword limits or warband limitations. Randomize the spell known by the Summoner from the Lesser Magic list. Additionally the Summoner knows the Summoning ritual.

Summoning ritual: When the Summoner is inside the Old Storehouse he can cast the ritual with Difficulty 8. After the first successful cast, there is no visible change. But after a second successful casting, replace the Summoner with a Possessed with 2 mutations of your choice. The summoned Possessed is no longer a magic user but still acts as part of the Gastromancer alligned warband until the end of the scenario. The base statline before mutations is that of a newly hired possessed.

Crates of Premium Pork Pie

Warband members automatically pickup crates of Premium Pork Pie when they end movement on the Pie marker. Picking up Pie forgoes all other actions that turn. There is no limit to Pie carried. Pie cannot be voluntarily transferred. Taking a Pie holder OoA automatically passes all Pie to the victor. Pie holders going out of action to shooting/magic etc. drop Pie where they fell. If a warband routs, the Pie holders drop the Pie markers where the models stood before the rout.

Fire

Any warband member that is not an animal, frenzied, or stupid can set a fire or extinguish a fire. To do so they must end movement within 1" of a corner on the outside of the Old Storehouse, give up remaining actions and roll a 4+. If you are successful and are extinguishing a fire, remove a fire marker from the corner. If you are successful and setting a fire, add a fire marker to the corner. There can only be 0 or 1 fire marker on each corner. A warband may have routed, but as long as 4 corners are on fire (or not on fire dependent on your suit) at the end of the game, they have 'maintained' their objective.

Political Notes

There is no restriction to a warband taking actions not aligned with the objectives they have been assigned e.g. the player assigned Spades can still attempt to start or put out fires, or any warband can pickup Pie and be rewarded.

Winning the Game

The warband that scores the most victory points is the winner.
+2 victory points per assigned objective scored or 'maintained' at the end of the game.
-1 victory point for involuntary rout.
-2 victory point for voluntary rout.

Ending the Game

The game ends when a warband has achieved and/or maintained both its objectives. Alternatively the game ends when only 1 warband is left on the table.

Any warband gets 1 additional wyrdstone for each crate of Premium Pork Pie held at the end of the scenario. Each warband gets 1+d3 additional wyrdstone for each objective they complete that was assigned to them.
Rewards can be obtained for multiple plays of this scenario.
